Black Friday to Cyber Monday brings out the worst in people. Lets just say I should have carried a boomstick. At least the photos for last weeks Diagonal Rule have arrived:

The random theme machine must be bogged down from Cyber Monday requests. It keeps repeating the same thing # # #, I think it means:

“Rule of Thirds”

A compositional standard for all arts. “Rule of Thirds: The rule states that an image should be imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally-spaced horizontal lines and two equally-spaced vertical lines, and that important compositional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections.” Think tic-tac-toe # and put your subject on those lines, it tends to just look better. Remember when it comes to art sometimes breaking the rules sets the standard. 2010 – Rule of Thirds and an Image Search.

As always it’s up to your interpretation, take and submit the photo in a week and If you submit it, I’ll post it. Submit at 52week@waxenmedia.com. FAQS

I’m waiting at the random theme machine anticipating pressing the red button, if only I hadn’t locked my keys inside the room. A crowbar and some duct tape later i’m in. Button pressed, oops lost a wheel, turning head sideways to read…

“Diagonal Rule”

Keep your head sideways and picture a landscape [ \ ] Take the photo how you saw it.  Very diagonal isn’t it?  OK the idea is to have a diagonal line of something through an otherwise horizontal photo. 2010 – Diagnoal Rule and an Image Search.

The remotely controlled red button produced a randomly chosen received theme:

“Signs”

Signs of what is the real question.  This could be signs or signs of something. Randomly picking some signs is boring. Spice it up and find alternative signs to photograph. 2010 – Signs and Image Search.

The random theme machine put an ad in the personals, it reads: “Single machine, clean parts, large cpu. seeking adventure and excitement. Someone to explore my ram. Plugs must fit.” Humm I think the machine needs to get out more. I pressed the button anyway. Round and round it goes.

“Explore”

is where it wants to go.  Lets explore this as a theme. Maybe I’ll explore an opportunity or maybe I’ll just explore with my hands? Either way one should explore photos. This theme is very open to interpretation. Explore – 2010 with an Image Search.
