Somebody forgot their photo and for punishment the old school method of writing out what they did wrong was applied.

I was chanting a commercial about being freaky, freaky fast. Chris slowly walked into the room and powered on the random theme machine. As it spun around and around and around and around and around, it was freaky, freaky:
“Fast”
Which is exactly where it stopped, on fast. Ironic that it has to to stop to say fast? Fast is all about photos that either show off fast or are taken fast, that’s it. Check out last years for ideas or go freaky, freaky fast and start talking photos. Long live Ron Galella the pioneer of paparazzo!
As always it’s up to your interpretation, take and submit the photo in a week and If you submit it, I’ll post it. Submit at 52week@waxenmedia.com. FAQS

Last weeks communication worked except for my website. It seems the communication I received saying “Thanks for your Payment!” was false. Now paid up, here are last weeks communication photos with a first time submitter, Cathie.

Feeling a bit shaken and not focusing. I just couldn’t see straight. I called Chris over who was assisted in starting the random theme generator. FYI The theme machine received a software upgrade which now includes a larger display. Too many new features. While I was rambling about upgrades the machine came to a soft stop:
“Unfocused”
Unfocused is where you break the “Rules of Photography”. Rather than being in focus you “purposely” make the photos “out of focus”. This is often done to give a dreamy, mysterious or shadowy photo. Check out last year or an image search for ideas. This can be done with a box camera. Focus the camera off the subject at something that is much farther away. This is done by pressing the shutter release half way then turn the camera back to the subject and finish pressing the release.

It seems people really got into the spirit of “still life”. Unfortunately I think it translated incorrectly into “Sit still, life” and everybody sat still for the week.. whew a long week. Here are those of us that choose to take a “still life” photo rather than “sit still”.

Chris and I went down to see the godfather of random themes and was granted audience. I bowed and explained that we needed a theme that would get people talking. This theme needed to bring people together in a common cause. A cause of photography and give them something to talk about. Photo submissions were needed. Quietly it thought and spoke:
“Communication”
Communication… and we were ushered out. I’m not exactly sure where the godfather was going with this but lets communicate. Last years communication leaves me just as blank. Only difference this year is, I don’t have a home phone to photograph. I shall not doubt the wisdom of the godfather and hope all the photographers communicate in some communication photos.

Silhouette didn’t seem as popular this year. It is an easy theme full of artistic fun. Even if this theme is over for the year I encourage you to go out and take some silhouette photos. Here are last weeks silhouette photos.
This is the year of the attacking bunny. Bunny owners beware!

My more shadow than silhouette photo but an interesting twist on light.

I went down to the theme generator and had a stare off with it…… I informed it that I was going to sit still, while starring it down, until it gave us a theme that everybody could be creative with. Chris stopped by and pressed the red button… So after my head quit spinning the machine said this week is all about:
“Still Life”
2010 Still life Had several submissions.
Still life is the photography of an inanimate subject. This gives the photographer control to refine the lighting and composition. Don’t read too much into the definition. In the basic sense it’s a picture of an inanimate object such as a classic basket of fruit. Check out GOOGLE to see other examples.
