Chirs, fresh back form his sabbatical, stopped by to run the theme machine. Mwa ha hah aha ha ha ha! It really belched out some smoke this week smoking up a storm. Mwa ha hah aha ha ha ha! Through the smoking glass we managed to discern that this weeks theme is:
“Smoke Photography”
Last weeks theme of shadow and this weeks theme of smoke fit in nicely coming into Halloween weekend. Mwa ha hah aha ha ha ha! (overused?) This theme can be easy to do or just drive you completely MAD. Mwa ha hah aha ha ha ha! MWA HA HAH AHA HA HA HA!!. Smoke photography in general is photographing smoke. This doesn’t have to be fire it can smoke like a vapor or dust from earth, wind or water. A quick image search shows many possibilities(most of which have been modified in Photoshop or like program) I used it once in another blog Silhouettes. To photograph smoke it is best to have a good smoke source like insense, a strong directional light from the side with no other light source on in the room, black as you can get background helps. The smoke you see should be enough to allow autofocus to work most of the time. Take many many photos as not all of them are going to turn out. It is always left up to your interpretation of theme so it could be anything related to smoke. You subimit it I’ll post it. Mwa ha hah aha ha ha ha!

WARNING the following contains geek and maybe difficult to understand without a manual. Why was my photo blog a day late? it was the dog. My frankensteined server named BadDog, renamed BadDog$4!7. It is part of my website and has been pieced together from cast out retired equipment. To give you an Idea of age it is a SCSI RAID 1 consisting of two 37.8gb hard drives originally with two partitions of 9.9gb and 27.9gb.
I rescued a SATA RAID card with a pair of 260gb SATA drives and figured it was a good time to upgrade. I Installed the new RAID and moved the 27.9gb partition to the new RAID and expanded the 9.9gb to 37.8gb, BIG MISTAKE. I am still feeling the bite I received. It turns out one of the 260gb hard drives was bad losing all my data. I managed to recover my data and the server is back online but without the protection of RAID. I’m going to go offer the dog a bone and see if it decides to like me.

A day late with a follow up I’ll post later to explain why. Last week was a dry one. Here are last weeks dry photos:
Photo By: Christopher D. Bennett. Go check out his website www.photography139.com for many other photos.
Lee submitted a couple dry things.
"Color of Dry"
"Needs Water"
I also photographed a few dry things. Here are my dry photos.
This week is shadowed in mystery and intrigue. I might have been a day late but the machine was powered up a day early and it performed flawlessly, which was a bit scary. Chris and I looked on in amazement as the shadow was cast. This weeks theme is all about
“Shadows”
This theme can be dark or not it is a fun one. Shadow photography is of course all about the shadow. This can be the subject casting a shadow or are shadow on the subject. Check out this image search and example. I hope this gets many creative thoughts going making it a two or more photo per person week.

Last weeks odd camera angle left people feeling odd. I squeaked by just taking a quick odd shot. To end this odd trail here are last weeks odd camera angle submissions:

"Classic Odd Coke" Photo By: Lee
"Odd isn’t it?" Photo By: Me
Chris stopped by to help fire up the theme machine to remove this odd photo feeling. It is a very dry week with a dry machine. I oiled up the machine banged on some rust and pulled the cord. It did fire up and a warning light indicated it was still:
“Dry”
Yes next weeks theme is dry. My first thought for a photo to show this theme seems to be one repeated many times in this image search, dry mud. To my fans in Seattle, WA, sorry I know it will be difficult to find a dry spot to photograph
. Dry could be like my humor?, opposite of dry, dry ice or part of a word like dry clean or dry dock. As always the theme is up to your interpretation. I look forward to some dry photos.

Last week produced some fast photos and since I’m hungry fast here is the fast photos from last week.
Photo By: Christopher D. Bennett. Go check out his website www.photography139.com for many other photos.
"Fast Phone Photo" Photo By: Lee
"Eagle’s Flight" Photo By: Me – Side note this is the last photo I took before my lens self destructed.
Since I was running on the Avenue of the Saints, the machine was run with only Chris watching. It preformed very odd and ground to a halt saying:
“Odd Camera Angle”
Odd camera angles are really just other than what is considered a normal camera angle. An image search shows little in examples. Think up, down or cattycorner avoid high, low or straight. This is always up to your interpretation.
