Memorial Day PB&J

Published by under 52 Week,Photography and Art

I’m actually the late one here. I had an email waiting from Chris with his photo for last week. I just sent him mine and have talked to another who wishes to contribute. Here are the submissions so far:

Chris’s photo is literal harmony

And without delay next weeks photo is painting, yes we will be painting.

“Painting with Light”

The first known photographer to use this technique was Man Ray in his series “Space Writing” He was born in 1890. This is often done today with a higher end camera and a moving light source. This however is not the only way to do this. The same thing can be done by moving the camera with a stationary light source. Wikipedia has a great example of moving the camera which can be found here. This doesn’t mean you have to even move, sometimes it just means the subject was painted in light. There are many ways to interpret this. Some examples. GOOGLED, GOOGLED2 and  20 Amazing. Enjoy and don’t let it overwhelm you, a flashlight and a subject would work. Just take your time you have a week.

PB&J thing time.

Published by under 52 Week,Photography and Art

Last week was full of stress, happiness, forgotten things and just plain worn out. I haven’t the strength to even blog. So after my cars brake decided to freeze up it was a perfect cherry on top of the stress. I did get my picture done for last weeks “Panning (&) Camera Blur” but it is sort of a cop-out. The camera was moving with the subject rather than the camera still and following the subject.

Here are the photos for last week.

Chris did an excellent job showing the technique.

Once the brake was cooled and I made it to work, Chris was ready for this weeks subject to be. So without any delay the button was pressed and let the peace and

“Harmony”

begin. Yep maybe this will help bring some harmony into our lives. Harmony in general is all the parts in a photo seem to go together, a consistency among elements. Since different people can see how things harmonize together differently this makes it a very subjective subject. It is a very feeling photo, it just looks right. I like to put harmony and peaceful together; like a duck on a pond in the sunset on a spring day or a field of grass and flowers blowing in the wind with an old country fence. GOOGLED I wouldn’t work too hard at it, many things harmonize. As always, especially for this one, it is left up to your interpretation. Maybe nothing harmonizes in the photo?

I feel PB&Jed out. Maybe it is time for some grilled cheese? Chris stopped by for a quick press of the button to find out what photo to take this week. It turns out this is rather blurry.

“Panning Camera Blur”

An interesting and perhaps slightly hard photo to take. This is a movement or rotation of the camera following your subject while taking a photo. This results in a subject that appears still while the background appears in motion. I have taken photos this way often following a kid, dog or bird. As always it is left up your interpretation of the rule. Maybe your subject is the background. WIKIPEDIA help. GOOGLED example.

PB&J update missing the “WILD” element

Published by under 52 Week,Photography and Art

A fine last week for “WILD” but there is less of a wild crowd out there than I expected. Wildly odd not having extra photos this week.

My photo was so wild I had to stamp CENSORED on it.

“It’s peanut butter jelly time, peanut butter jelly time, peanut butter jelly time.” REMINDER LINK  Maybe that will get it stuck in the heads of many people and increase submissions. Chris stopped by to press the button and I think to get past wild. I shook the machine twice while pressing the button. After the spinning stopped I found the answer leading this way:

“Leading Lines”

This is actually another rule of photography. Definition: Leading lines are lines within an image that leads the eye to another point in or out of the image. Anything with a definable line can be a leading line. An example is fences, bridges, or roadways. Leading lines with a subject that is placed according to the rule of thirds should make your image very strong. GOOGLED. My gallery contains a whole set of leading lines photos which can be found HERE. This should be another interesting photo to see what others come up with it.

PB&Jing on time again and with extras.

Published by under 52 Week,Photography and Art

What a week of feet. Here a foot there a foot everywhere a feet. So the game was a foot. If only I could get a foot a head? So I’ll put my best foot forward and avoiding getting off on the wrong foot. I’ll foot the bill for travailing expenses and get one foot in the door while avoiding other things I wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole.  Last week was all about “FEET”. I did get some fotos, I mean photos of feet to show.

Chris back from vacation, earlier than he wanted, stopped by. Forgetting the music and kicking the broken tickertape hp the button was pressed…  The electricity is in the air and ideas are running:

“WILD”

Yep, wild is next weeks photo to take.  I’m wildly excited to see what wild photos people can wildly come up with. I Googled wild but all Google wants to show is wildlife. So all you wild photographers out there, get wildly taking the photos of “WILD”.
